Creation Myth of Dragonsea
When the world was young and wild, the great gods and goddess of the ancient times found this small world filled with potential. Each decided to create their own race to explore and interact with this world. Amongst them, was Io the concordant dragon, one of the great ancient gods. He watched as the other races toyed with clay and wood and water as they pondered what form their race would take, and in his infinite wisdom, Io thought to give his race the greatest power, he would make them out of the very essence of magic, thus the first dragons would be born. Their forms, powered by so much magic, they attuned themselves to where they were created, they bonded with fire and water, with stone and sand, with wind and forest, they became masters of all terrains. Seeing that Io had created his children first, the other gods rushed to finish their creations and let the great mechanism of the world begin to play itself out.
As the ages began to pass, the other gods saw their creations were imperfect, they had flaws, they fought each other and they were petty. Jealous of the perfection that were the dragons, the other gods gave their races the tools to fight the dragons, and the desire to hunt them. Io saw his children who once existed above all others being hunted and killed. Knowing he could never satisfy the jealousy of the other gods, Io created an area in the deepest parts of the ocean, far from the sight of any land. There he called to his children, beckoned them to come. Most came, a few stayed behind to guard the dragon's retreat. As the final dragons arrived, Io closed off the waterways, and with great magicks wiped the exodus from the minds of all the pursuers. He created Dragonsea, the Dragon's Paradise.
Being large, powerful and severely independent creatures, Io knew that it would be difficult for his children to live so close to one another. He needed exarches, powerful godlings to guide the dragons. Io took the essence of Dragon itself and split it. In one hand, he held the honor, stubbornness, pride and strength of the dragons; he named it Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon. In the other hand, he held the cunning, intelligence, emotions and maverick aspects of the dragons; he named it Tiamat, the Prismatic Dragon. They were to be the gods of the dragons, to guide them and create a utopian society where all Dragons would live in peace and harmony.
Io left Bahamut and Tiamat and focused on something unexpected. When he split the dragon essence, something was left behind, a small fragment that held strange qualities. It was innocent and naive, curious and surprisingly ingenious. Io shaped the creature the best he could, creating a small dragon like creature. He named her Kas, the Dreamer and Io played with the child.
While Io spent time with Kas, Bahamut and Tiamat led the best of the dragons to create a draconic society. As the oldest race in existence, they continue to honor age as a sign a leadership, and soon a great society thrived. Bahamut and Tiamat both saw a problem however, many of the small places, at least to a dragon's point of view, were being neglected. The dragons needed help to access these small spaces, and both gods agreed, Dragonsea needed a new race. Bahamut, in his pride and stubbornness quickly decided that the new race should be echoes of the Dragons; after all, one could not improve on perfection. Tiamat disagreed; she wanted to experiment, to try something new so that Dragonsea would be more vibrant.
Bahamut, stubborn, went ahead without Tiamat and created the first race of Dragonsea, the Dragonborn. They mimicked the dragons in form and shape, but since they were created without Tiamat, they were like Bahamut, stubborn, prideful, and strong. Meanwhile Tiamat looked at the cosmos around her and saw countless opportunities. Entranced by the primordial realm, she dug her claws deep and pulled out a piece of the realm and fused it with draconic essence. Like Bahamut, her creation was a shadow of her own carefree and flighty existence, but she dug too deep into the primordial realm and a touch of the abyss changed her creation slightly. They were sleek, lithe, and could tap powers that many dragons could not, still Tiamat was proud of he creation. And thus was formed the second race of Dragonsea, the Tieflings.
When Io returned with Kas he was happy to see that his children had so thrived and he praised Bahamut and Tiamat. It was Kas who saw the Dragonborn and the Tieflings and brought them to her father's attention. Io saw the two creations and was intrigued at the thought, but disappointed Tiamat and Bahamut could not work together. He charged them with the task of creating a third race, this time they would use essence of the Astral Sea AND they would work together. Kas meanwhile discovered some of the essence that both Bahamut and Tiamat discarded and she created her own race. She created little dragonlings like herself, and like her, they were innocent, naive and extremely resourceful. She called them Kobold, and the third race of Dragonsea was born.
Tiamat and Bahamut flew to the Astral Sea and argued endlessly over the new race. Every detail underwent fierce negotiation and seemingly tireless amount of arguing. Finally, the two had agreed and the work began, the new race, Gith it was to be called, was all but fully made when both Tiamat and Bahamut made a last minute revision. The schism left the race looking the same, but with two very different dispositions, the militant Githyanki and the esoteric Githzeri. Ashamed at their deceit, both agreed to keep this mistake from their father. Thus the 4th Race of Dragonsea was born, the Gith.
Thus the draconic races of Dragonsea were made. A fifth race however, was still to be made. For Kas's creation did not go unnoticed by Io. Proud of his youngest and most beloved, Io created a guardian for his daughter's little race. Io inspired by the playmates he had created for his daughter from the Feywild, infused a race of beasts with intelligence, cunning, and most importantly a fierce sense of protection for the little kobold race. Thus the Shifter race was created, the fifth and final race of Dragonsea.

While not considered races of Dragonsea, there would be two more creation that would arise in the countless islands that would be called Dragonsea. Before Tiamat and Bahamut created the Dragonborn, the dragons themselves saw a need for servants. Using the power of their own magic, they dug into the primordial forces around them and created the Genasi. However, just as Tiamat encountered problems so too did the dragons. The primordial energy made the Genasi powerful, but too independent, and soon their role as servant soon withered. The dragons, now distracted by the arrival of their small draconic cousins, the Dragonborn and Tieflings, left the Genasi to their own devices, and the race flourished.
Millennia later, the dragons once again remembered their attempts at a near perfect servant and they went to work again. This time, they looked around at all the races of Dragonsea and knew that their creation would have to be pure if it was to be loyal. Thus the dragons worked metal and stone, vine and magic, and created their most loyal and perfect automatons, the Warforged, who serve them to this day.
