Class Breakdown of Dragonsea
This is a result from a Q&A with Anthony over the classes of Dragonsea:
Clerics:
Clerics are most common amongst the races of the Dragonborn and the Tieflings, who mimic their respective Dragon Sects devotion to either Bahamut or Tiamat. Though the devout can be found in other races, they are primarily of these two races. Despite their near fanatical devotion to the Dragons, Kobolds surprisingly have the least number of clerics of all the races. Devotion is not limited to the primary deities; many clerical sects have arisen around various Exarchs or Exemplars of the gods. **Note: This allows for a player to choose a different god other than Bahamut or Tiamat for the purposes of powers, feats etc.**
Fighters:
Fighters are found in all races, as they are the rank and file of any military, or remotely combat oriented group. These can be a foot soldier in the ranks of the Dragon Guards or explorers/adventures of the wild places.
Paladin:
The paladin path of law and good has made for countless Paladin sects to arise amongst the Dragonborn, who see it as the ultimate way to emulate Bahamut. The only other race to host numerous paladins are the Shifters, though given their disinterest in the affairs of dragons, no one is sure why or who they worship to produce so many Paladins.
Rangers:
The other rank and file class of Dragonsea, rangers are as numerous as fighters. They possess superior knowledge of the wilds, and have come to understand the countless dangers of Dragonsea. Rangers are common to every race but two races seem to possess elite rangers, the Shifter and the Githyanki.
Rogues:
Rogues are the stealthy, the crafty, the elusive and the conniving class of Dragonsea. Any race is capable of such traits; however there are a couple who flourish in this style of combat. Kobolds possess large number of rogues, their small size allowing them to easily sneak around and go undetected. The Genasi also bear numerous elite rogues, their race still in a rebellious state of being against their progenitors.
Warlocks:
Warlocks are fairly common in Dragonsea, the abundance of magic in the area allowing for the powers needed by a Warlock to be easily accessible. Tieflings have mastered the Demon Pact path, using their innate connection with the Abyss to aid in fueling their powers. Githzeri have used their mental prowess and connection with the Astral Sea to gaze beyond it and have learned the Star Pact path better than any other race. Shifters are the last race to boast elite warlocks; their still existing tie to the Feywild allows them to master the Fey Pact path better than any other. There is a fourth pact that has recently arisen in Dragonsea, the Dark Pact path. This path, though rare, seems to appear most often amongst Kobolds and Warforged though none know why. Kobolds that bear the power of the Dark Pact are quickly ostracized, and Warforged who develop the Dark Pact powers dismantled. This new power is seen as a dark omen.
Warlords:
Warlords are the elite of the warrior classes. They serve as generals, advisors, personal bodyguards and other positions of power. They are primarily found, not surprisingly, amongst the Dragonborn and the Tieflings who hope to lead the various armies of each sect to eventual victory over the other. The only other race to bear numerous warlords are the Warforged, who have been designed that way, and flourished in the position.
Wizards:
Wizards are common in the lands of Dragonsea, as the place is steeped in the creation magicks of the god Io. Every race boasts powerful wizards, able to easily tap into the innate power of Dragonsea. Tieflings and Genasi seem to have it the easiest, their connection to the elemental chaos allowing them to use the power of the elements with brutal efficiency. Shifters are the only race that bears very few wizards, the race as a whole appearing to have some stranger aversion or distrust of it.
Artificers:
Artificers are extremely rare outside of the Kobold race. The kobolds have created and mastered the power of artifice far beyond any other races' imagining, even the Dragons. Kobolds guard their secret fiercely and any other race that has an artificer was either taught by a very generous Kobold or stole the secrets from one. Kobolds are wary of any Artificer not of their race, and violent towards one if learned the craft was stolen.
Swordmages:
Swordmages are found almost exclusively amongst the Warforged and the Genasi. The magicks that went into creating the two races has made it very easy for these slave races to tap into this power easily. Only recently have the other races begun to learn the way of the Swordmages in any meaningful way.
Avengers:
Avengers are a new group of warriors, their radical devotion to their faith overcoming any other allegiance. Devas seem naturally inclined to this race and most Avengers are indeed Devas, but many zealous Dragonborn and Tieflings have found themselves drawn to it. Avengers are quickly becoming the shock troopers of the religious sects, and many Dragons are beginning to wonder if the Avengers are perhaps becoming too powerful in their own right.
Barbarians:
Barbarians are unique in that they are not trained, nor chosen, or even organized. Barbarians come about when an individual taps into the primal strength of their existence and channel it into almost unbridled fury. Shifters, being closest to a primal state are the most common Barbarians but every race has the potential to have one. A recent counter culture movement in the Githyanki and Dragonborn rigid systems has created more than their fair share of Barbarians.
Bards:
The Bard's power to lead, inspire, and invigorate their allies is almost legendary. Their closeness to the magic of sound and music, and their care-free livelihoods has lent the Tieflings to produce the most Bards. Devas looking to inspire but without religious overtones have found the path of the Bards appealing. Bardic colleges have begun to appear in great numbers amongst the cities of Dragonsea, and many are drawn to the carefree and adventurous lifestyles that the storytellers themselves have sung about and shared for countless ages.
Druids:
Druids are the priests of the wilds and are an extremely secretive sect of the Shifter race. The attunement with nature required of Druids has made it very difficult for other races to come close to replicating the power of the Druids unless they are directly taught by an Elder. Shifters see this power as proof of their divine origins, and almost never teach an outsider the ways of the Druids. Even Kobolds are often turned away unless they show unique characteristics that the Shifter's deem acceptable.
Invokers:
If Avenger's are the most zealot warriors of a god, than the Invoker's are the most blessed priests. The Invoker's rare ability to channel a fragment of the divine with more ease than any other has made them powerful leaders in the current religious movements. Though it is possible that Invokers can be of any race, there are two races who boast substantially more Invokers than any other race combined, the Devas and the Kobolds. The Devas, seen as servants of the gods, see this as further proof of their divine mandate, but no one is sure why the Kobolds have been blessed with so many Invokers.
Shamans:
Shamans are creatures attuned to the life all around them, and require a lesser degree of dedication to nature than the druid. All races boast several shamanic orders, though the three primary draconic races, Dragonborn, Tieflings, and Kobolds, conspicuously produce far fewer Shamans than the other races. The Shamans are seen as caretakers of the land, and its people often double as medicine men, healers, midwives, and other jobs that help the health and happiness of their communities.
Sorcerers:
The raw primal power of the Sorcerers comes from their very essence, and no race boasts more Sorcerers than the primary draconic races, the Dragonborn, Tieflings, and Kobolds. Genasi boast a fair amount of Sorcerers as well, but no where near at the strength or numbers of the others. Only Devas seems to produce almost no sorcerers. Most Sorcerers draw strength from the draconic power in their veins though a new wave of "wild" sorcerers has appeared amongst the Shifters and the Githzeri. This growth in wild magic has coincided with a greater appearance of more primal powered classes.
Wardens:
Wardens are the chosen protectors of the land of Dragonsea. They are tasked with defending the land, the seas, and the races that inhabit Dragonsea from any dangers. Ancient legends claim the Wardens were the final line of defense when the Dragons fled to Dragonsea from the world beyond, guarding their kin with their lives. Today, they honor that past by protecting any and all races of Dragonsea from any threats. Any race of Dragonsea can count the Wardens amongst them, but it is the servant races, the Warforged and Genasi who produce more Wardens than any other race. Genasi and Warforged were both made from the power of Dragonsea itself and are some of the fiercest defenders in existence.
Monks: **NEW**
The elite warriors of the Gith race, the path of the monk has only recently been revealed to the rest of Dragonsea. The monk is seen as the ultimate perfection and union of mind and body. It is also seen as the ultimate bridge between the Zerai and the Yanki. The secrets of the monk are still well protected, but it is rumored a special few have been given permission to train alongside the monks and learn what they can through observation.
